Merry Christmas Bells

Happy Saturday, peeps! A quick card today, a Christmas one that basically has almost no stamping!  The Jingle Belles want to see bells, and I've used the sketch from TGIF Challenges:

I found this star and bell cutout in my scrap bin while rummaging around on my desk and thought it would fit the bell challenge nicely!  I pulled out some DSPs from my stash and put them all together:

The star and pink snowflake papers are from Mintay (Merry Little Christmas), and the background paper is from Divinity Designs (Christmas Paper Collection 2014).  The little diecut is from Gummiapan:

I added some pink sequins, and before adhering the pink paper, I diecut out a panel from the background and used it to stamp the sentiment for the inside; it's from SU's Greetings of the Season:

Another Christmas card to add to my stash!  Thanks for popping in today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

IB335 Happy Spring

Happy Friday, peeps! It is quite damp and dreary today in SE PA, but we always need the rain! My card today is one I almost didn't share....it isn't quite up to my standards but I decided to show it anyway to prove that no matter how experienced a stamper you are, sometimes things just don't come out the way you expect!

I have been playing with the Notes & Totes bundle and as much as I love it, I am struggling with it...I think it's bigger than I envisioned!  Anyway, the Inspired By challenge this week inspired me to try to use the tote die; here's the photo:

So off I went to create:

I won't go into all the details about what I don't like about this card, but I will say that the pretty flowers  from You Are Remarkable, stamped in Soft Seafoam ink,  just got lost.  I should have stamped them in something darker....so maybe I'll try them again!

I tried an old technique for the tote itself; I stamped the retired Knit Together stamp using Versamark ink and dabbed on some pastels with a cotton ball....remember them?  It turned out darker than I wanted, sadly.  I couldn't even stamp the inside correctly...it was crooked and had a halo, so I had to trim my stamp, restamp and diecut a piece to cover it up:

At least I managed the background okay, using a piece of Country Woods DSP!  Well, you can't win them all!  Thanks so much for bearing with me here today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

TSOT669 Quick Thank You

Happy Thursday, all! I have a quick thank you card today using the beautiful papers from Florals in Bloom as well as the sketch from Try A Sketch on Tuesday:

So here we go:

My sentiment from Everyday Arches was stamped in Berry Burst, and the little flower from Choose Happy was stamped and watercolored in Petunia Pop and Garden Green and accented with a little pearl:

Simple, quick and oh so pretty!

Yesterday morning I received an email from our neighborhood watch group; I use the term "neighborhood" loosely, because I live on a rural road and our neighborhood consists of about three small roads and a couple developments, neither of which are really near me.  But sometimes someone's dog gets loose, or an elderly neighbor wanders off, so an email goes out.  Nothing prepared me for this, however, only half a mile from my home:

Yikes!  I have never known bears to be in my area---EVER! Someone saw this one on his way to work and snapped a couple of pictures from the safety of his car!   And off it goes, into the woods!

Enjoy your day and be blessed!

You Make My Heart Smile

Happy Tuesday, peeps! No challenge today, but I have been playing with some of the new papers from the catalog that went live today!  Beautiful Gallery has some stunning artwork images as well as some vintage-style backgrounds.  This one uses my favorite blue and orange tones and I had to use it first!

The sentiment panel is the opposite side of the printed paper, and the sentiment is from  Layers of Beauty, stamped in the new In Color Secret Sea.  The little flower stamped on the arched panel is from Spring Corners:

The card base is another new color called Cloud Cover---LOVE it!  I love how this particular design looks like vintage fabric!  Now I need to make some samples with some of the other prints as well!  Thanks for visiting today!

Speaking of orange, I glanced out my craft room window last week and saw this orange fellow on my hummingbird feeder!  I knew they were around, as I had been hearing them, but it was a treat to see him so close!

We have had orioles at our hummingbird feeders before, but I never get tired of having them visit! Enjoy your day and be blessed!

AHSC628 Celebrate

Happy Monday, peeps! It's dreary and gray here in SE PA, but my card today will brighten it up!  The Atlantic Hearts sketch challenged me a little, but in the end, I really enjoyed creating this card! I just had to think outside the box a bit! Here's the sketch:

And here we go:

Rather than stamp the "splotches" figured in the sketch, I pulled out some retired Hues of Happiness DSP and tore little strips of the pink hues to complement my Strawberry Slush card base.  I found some pretty glimmer paper in my stash and diecut the word "celebrate", then added punched butterflies in various pink prints:

A tiny sliver of black glimmer paper formed the bodies of the butterflies and I added some black sequins from my stash for the heads.  Everything went on a piece of Basic White that had been embossed with the Timeworn Type embossing folder.  I left the inside blank; I'll add a sentiment when I need a special card for a special someone!  I think it's bright and cheerful enough to offset any birthday blues someone might be having, LOL!

I hope you'll play along with our sketch this week!  Wednesday will be the reveal for ALL the DT's creations but you can share yours at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge blog any time!  Thanks for visiting today!  Enjoy it and be blessed!

PP736 Theme from Joanne

Happy Sunday, peeps!  Hope your weekend is going well so far!  Joanne is our Paper Players hostess with a fun theme!  I love pulling out old goodies:

In this case, I pulled out some old DSP; normally I would pull out an older stamp set, but I wanted to use the new Spring Corners stamp set to create a birthday card, so I opted for some DSP as my "old"!  Here we go:

You really can't get much easier than this card! The background papers as well as the bird (fussy-cut) are from last year's SAB papers called Flight & Airy...not really that old, but I haven't used them since, LOL!  I added a Spellbinder's tree branch and stamped my sentiment directly to the DSP using Misty Moonlight ink:

I hope my sweet friend likes it!  And I hope you'll play along with our "Old and New" challenge!  It's always fun to have new things, but we all have those treasured goodies we won't ever part with---so get them out and let's see what you create!  Share them with us at the Paper Players!!!

AYSI347 Ouch

Happy Friday, everyone!  Hope you have something fun planned this weekend!  It's time for a new As You See It challenge, and it's a recipe! They're always fun:

I needed a sort of get well card for an acquaintence.....she had a serious accident with a zero-turn mower and I won't go into a lot of detail (but you can use your imagination!).  But she has a very positive outlook and is optimistic about her ability to adapt, and I really wanted to send her a card!  So here we go:

This little turtle is from a 2019 set called Back on Your Feet, and the images are so cute, I'll never part with it!  I stamped this little guy in Stazon Black ink and watercolored him with three different colors of green ink!  He was diecut with a Stitched Shape die, and I added some embossing on the right panel with the Cute Crochet embossing folder along with a fun little border diecut using the Scalloped Contours dies:

I added a Natural Tones linen thread so I could attach my little tag:

None of the other sentiments in the sets seemed appropriate, so I added a CTMH sentiment on the inside:

The sketch I used comes from the FMS challenge this week by the talented Jen Mitchell:

And I am squeaking it in just under the wire at Retro Rubber, which is a tic-tac-toe grid; I chose the top row across of green, diecut and stitching:

Now, in case you were a little put off by my friend's accident, here's some happier news! The Philadelphia Zoo just had four endangered Galapagos tortoises hatch!!

They gave them the names of the Golden Girls: Dorothy, Rose, Blanche and Sophia!  And their parents are almost 100 years old!  You can read more about it here!  Fascinating story!

Anyway, I hope you'll play along with our fun recipe this week and create something with a zoo (or other) animal!  You can check out what all the designers created at the As You See It blog, and share yours there too!
